Birds and Beans News - November 2009

New Offerings

We are working hard to bring you more certified Bird Friendly® coffee. This month we have two new offerings: Guatemala Fraijanes and the Oriole Blend.

The Guatemala Fraijanes has got Colin's attention at the café with its lingering chocolate aftertaste, while the Oriole blend is giving those strong coffee lovers a Bird Friendly® certified option.

Coffee of the Month

A Great Gift for Christmas that Lasts all Year!

We are now offering a certified Bird Friendly® coffee of the month. These rotate through our six Bird Friendly coffees. Or choose our original coffee of the month and cycle through all of our offerings. Click here for more information.

We can tailor to your needs, so let us know if you would like to prepay the series, run a shorter term, send coffee every other month or any other special request. We'll do our best to accommodate you!

Chicken Out!

Birds and Beans Café-by-the-Lake is taking a stand against factory farming by joining the Chicken Out! campaign. While we have never used eggs from caged hens, we now use only certified organic Ontario eggs. Only certified organic eggs ensure quality of life standards for our laying hens. Canadian organic standards ensure that the birds can exhibit natual behaviours like scratching, roosting, flapping and mingling with roosters. By using certified organic eggs in our baked goods and egg salad Birds and Beans is giving a decent life to 30 laying hens.

Winter Bird Walks

Join us for a winter bird walk in Humber Bay Park on Saturday December 5th from 9am to 11am. Keep your eyes on the CCFEW Bird Walks page for more winter dates. The mouth of the Humber River is a favourite for winter birding and walks will be scheduled through the winter months. Sponsored by Birds and Beans.
