Community IMBD Bird Walk May 9th

Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day

Come out and celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with a bird walk at Colonel Samuel Smith Park conducted by the Citizens Concerned about the Future of Etobicoke's Waterfront (CCFEW) and sponsored by Birds and Beans Coffee.

Bird migration is one of the wonders of the world. The return of our songbirds in the spring is soul enriching. Enjoy a morning with an experienced bird walk guide viewing and listening to our our returning migrants.

Many of these birds spent their winter months in the shade canopies above traditional coffee farms. This habitat is the last refuge for many of the birds we will see on this walk. We can preserve this dwindling habitat and ensure that the wonder of bird migration exists for our children and grandchildren by choosing certified shade grown coffee instead of sun grown coffee typically available.

CCFEW organizes a series of 8 to 10 bird walks through the year at Toronto waterfront parks. The walks are lead by experienced birders and are free for anyone who is interested in attending. Everyone is welcome!

Location: Colonel Samuel Smith Park. Meet at the south parking lot (where the road ends) 9:00 on Saturday May 9th 2009. Afterwards, join us for a Bird Friendly® coffee at Birds and Beans!
