The Cosagual Cooperative is located in the mountains of western Honduras. The rolling hills of coffeefarms are watched over by the Piedra Parada, or “Standing Rock,” a monument to represent the struggleof the indigenous people of Honduras against Spanish occupation. Cosagual’s premium Fair TradeOrganic coffee is grown amidst this historical landmark, where in 1536 the indigenous revolutionaryleader, Lempira, fell to the Spanish soldiers.
Cosagual uses organic farming methods only, including the use of compost for fertilizer and naturalremedies to combat pests. Cosagual members are maintaining solidarity of their cooperative and reachingfinancial empowerment through working Fair Trade deals with importers. Organic and Fair Tradepremiums help finance education for members and their families.
This coffee is strong on the approach with toasty flavours that change to malt in the long pleasant aftertaste.
